Torah Mantle
Torah Mantles
June 13, 2018
Dear Members of Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El,
In conjunction with the 60th anniversary of our congregation, we have decided to replace our Torah covers or “mantles” which are more than thirty years old and in serious disrepair. The Fine Arts Committee, along with our clergy, chose a highly regarded Judaica artist to create these beautiful new mantles for the synagogue’s twelve Torahs. The artist has assured us that the new mantles will be delivered in time for Rosh Hashanah 5779.
The High Holiday set will be created in cream fabric with “Avenu Malkenu” inscribed on the front. The Shabbat set will be made in navy fabric with “Or Chadash” inscribed on the front along with assorted, colorful “prisms” of light. This design is uniquely reflective of the milestone we are celebrating in our synagogue’s history, since we have selected “Or Chadash” as our theme. Translated as “a new light,” Or Chadash is particularly apt since the 60th anniversary is universally recognized as the “diamond” anniversary.
Our twenty four Torah mantles are being offered for your personal dedication with a contribution of $1800 each. There will be a commemorative plaque recognizing our donors along with their dedications. We urge you to promptly consider this special opportunity since there are only twenty four covers available.
Please attach your check to the dedication form, or you may make your donation and provide your personal dedication on the tbhbe.org website. We look forward to hearing from you and to celebrating a new light—our 60th anniversary—with you. Thank you as always for your
support of Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El.
B’shalom,
