Nelly Berman

 Many in our congregation knew Nelly Berman, z”l, and her school as the premiere classical music program for young people in Philadelphia. An international musical competition is now being organized by Elena Berman, Nelly’s daughter.  The winners of the competition will be receiving awards from the NBS Classical Music Institute, a non-profit organization which ensures that gifted but financially limited students can receive the best possible music education. 

    The competition begins this month.  Finalists will be chosen in March.  The winners will perform at the Kimmel Center in June.  To make a charitable donation to the NBS Classical Music Institute, checks can be sent to 461 W. Lancaster Avenue, Haverford, PA  19041 or go to www.nbsmusic.com
