Origins of the Divergent Sephardic and Ashkenazic Approaches to Jewish Law

Talya Fishman received her BA from Wesleyan University, her MA from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, and her PhD from Harvard University. As an intellectual and cultural historian in Penn’s Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations, she studies developments in Jewish culture between the 9th and 18th centuries within their broader Christian or Muslim contexts.
