The Jews and the Emperors: It is not surprising that the rabbis had something to say about Roman emperors; it is surprising that they claim to have actually met and talked with Roman emperors. We will look at these strange interactions and what they tell us about Jews’ views of Rome, Gentiles, and secular authorities.
