The Bible is frequently viewed as a moral standard for Western Civilization. How can we understand stories of sexual violence in the Bible? Our modern sexual values seem in conflict with Biblical norms, but in our current political climate, it’s not always so clear. We will read stories of sexual violence and consider the ways in which women were treated and their roles in ancient Israelite society.
