Garden Manager Needed

     The Garden Manager monitors and maintains the resources that sustain TBH-BE's new
Gan Kehillah, an organic communal garden. The Garden Manager is the point person who
assures that fresh produce from the garden is distributed to the programs at the synagogue
that feed the hungry and nourish our community.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Create an annual garden plan in cooperation with the Gan Kehillah Committee.
  • Check plants, water and fertilize appropriately, based on season.
  • Monitor availability of produce ready for harvest.
  • Coordinate with the Shabbat Kidddush Coordinator, Cook for a Friend and Response
    to Hunger volunteers about produce available for use in programs and congregational events.
  • Monitor soil/compost resources on hand, and usability of garden structures and tools; notify Gan Kehillah Committee co-chairs about needs.
  • Notify Gan Kehillah co-chairs about needs for volunteers to assist with filling, planting
    or cleaning up beds.
  • Supervise volunteers who assist with filling, planting or cleaning up beds.

This is a year-round position, approximately 10 hours per week during growing season;
5 hours per week during winter.
Stipend: $15 an hour, up to $7500 per year
