Ushering and Greeting on Shabbat

Dear Friends,

At TBH-BE, we regularly have greeters stationed inside our front double doors wishing people a Shabbat Shalom and directing them to our services and two ushers outside the Sanctuary doors offering assistance, especially to those with physical challenges.  More so than providing information and help, these ambassadors of TBH-BE are critical to being the face of our shul and representing our values.  We all probably remember the first time we entered our Synagogue and the impact of the first person who extended themselves to us.  The central purpose of having ushers and greeters is not to enforce protocol, but rather to facilitate everyone's positive experience at shul.

We are conducting an orientation to prospective and current greeters and ushers on December 14, 2016 at 7:00 PM in the Holocaust Memorial Chapel.

Please join us.  If you have any interest in serving as a greeter or usher, even if only once a year, please come to this short presentation.  We would love to have you.  We will provide instruction on the use of assisted listening devices, guidelines for seating those with physical challenges, and general tips for welcoming people to our shul.  If you are a "people-person," this will be a great fit.  If you are interested in volunteering in this capacity and cannot attend or if you have any questions, please let me know.  Many thanks to Sara Crimm and Allan Horowitz for leading this very important effort.

Thanks and Shabbat Shalom,

Josh Davison
