GESHER FAMILY MINYAN
This minyan, led by Rabbi Todd Zeff, is a place for families with children ages 5-8 to daven together. It meets on the third Shabbat of most months, in the Coslov Auditorium, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The service includes traditional prayers, learning, Torah study, and stories and songs.
How many times have you attended Shabbat services?
Don’t forget to send in your postcards or email Rie at rbrosco@tbhbe.org
All students in grades 2 – 7, including those in our Religious School as well as those who attend Perelman Jewish Day School, who will become B’nai Mitzvah at this synagogue, must fulfill the Shabbat service attendance requirement each year at Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El. Younger students and teens are encouraged to attend as well. Attendance records are maintained and this policy is strictly adhered to.
SHABBAT REQUIREMENTS:
Grade 2: 5 Shabbat morning services at Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El
Grades 3 – 6 10 Shabbat morning services at Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El
Grade 7 10 Shabbat services - 6 must be Shabbat morning Shabbat morning services at Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El, while others may be Shabbat afternoon (mincha) or a Shabbat morning at other synagogues. It is recommended that 7th graders attend the Main Sanctuary service.

SHABBAT SERVICES ATTENDED 5768

* NO YOUTH SERVICES but you may still receive credit for attending services in the sanctuary or chavurah.
Attention: Parents of Children born in 1998
Bar and Bat Mitzvah dates for the year 2011 will be assigned to children born in 1998. There will be a Parent Information Meeting for you on Sunday, February 3, 2008. At this meeting the process of assigning dates and the various options will be explained. A letter with details about this important meeting will be mailed to you in the near future. Please call Sharon Alloy or Bonnie Benson with questions.
*At TBH-BE bat mitzvahs are traditionally held at the age of thirteen, however, we recognize for some families it is customary to observe this tradition at age twelve. If this is your tradition and your daughter was born in 1999, please contact us.
Each week that Youth Services meets, Larry Kaplan will offer the Torah Reading Academy for students in grades 5 - 7 at 10:15 a.m. Students will learn skills to read from the Torah, and will be able to have Torah parts for class services, regular weekly youth services, and eventually will be able to read more than one aliyah at the service when they become Bar or Bat Mitzvah.
Under the able direction of Cantor Rosner, the Youth Choir has begun its third season. Rehearsals are on Sundays from 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. Participation in the Youth Choir is open to all Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El children, grades 2 – 7. A copy of the schedule of rehearsals and performances in included in this newsletter.
The first performance of the year will be on the first day of Sukkot when the children will accompany Hazzan Rosner by singing a piece in the Musaf service. Encourage your children to join the Youth Choir, and come to Yom Tov services to hear their beautiful voices!
